Why Varble Orthodontics
What Makes Us Different
Almost any practice can straighten teeth. The difference is in how the final smile is designed, how the months in between fit into your family’s life, and who is making every decision about your child’s care.
Choosing an orthodontist is a long commitment, often across more than one child and a couple of years. So the real question was never whether a practice can move teeth. The question is what you get beyond that: how the result is designed, how treatment fits your week, and whose judgment is behind every step. Here is where we are different.
01
We Design Smiles, Not Just Straight Teeth
Straight teeth are the baseline. A VO Smile is planned against a defined set of tenets: the width and arc of the smile, how the teeth meet the lips, the proportion and color of each tooth, and the way the gumline frames it all. Dr. Varble maps every case to those details so the result fits your child’s face and looks like it was always theirs. Most practices never articulate a smile philosophy at all. For us, it is the heart of how we treat.
02
Your Child's Doctor Teaches Other Orthodontists
Dr. Varble does not just practice orthodontics. He trained at Saint Louis University, earned the JP Marshall Award for finishing first in his residency class, and has taught as clinical faculty at SLU and SIU. He is a national speaker and educator on the systems we use every day, and other orthodontists visit to learn how he does it. When he plans your child’s treatment, that depth is behind every decision.
03
Most of Treatment Happens From Home
Traditional braces mean a trip to the office every few weeks, often just to hear that everything looks fine. We built around a different model. With DentalMonitoring, an FDA-cleared remote monitoring system, your child scans from home each week and Dr. Varble reviews every scan himself. You come in when there is an actual reason to, which for many families is about half the in-office visits of a traditional practice. The care does not loosen. The schedule does.
The Rest of the Difference
Built Around Real Families
The details that make treatment easier to live with, and easier to trust.
The Technology Behind Your Treatment
Damon Ultima self-ligating brackets for fewer adjustments and shorter appointments, and Spark Clear Aligners, both from Ormco. Every piece of technology here was chosen by Dr. Varble for the results it gives his patients — no corporate office decides what we use.
One Stop for the Whole Family
We share a building with Dentistry for Children and Adolescents, where Dr. Amy Varble practices. Dental and orthodontic visits can happen on the same trip, a real difference for families juggling more than one kid’s schedule.
Start the Same Day
When treatment is the right call and you are ready, there is no waiting weeks to begin. Our systems let us start the same day as your free VO Smile Assessment, so the decision and the first step can happen together.
Every Decision Is His
Dr. Varble plans and oversees every case personally. Treatment starts when it is right for your child, never to fill a schedule, and sometimes the best advice is to wait. You are getting his judgment at every step, not a protocol handed down from somewhere else.
COMMON QUESTIONS
What Parents Want to Know
Aren't most orthodontists basically the same?
They use a lot of the same tools, but how those tools are used is where outcomes are won or lost. The difference shows up in the planning: whether the smile is designed against a defined set of details or simply straightened, whether your time is treated as something worth protecting, and whether the person deciding actually has the depth to make the call. That is what these pages are really about.
What is the VO Smile, exactly?
It is the set of tenets Dr. Varble plans every case against, the things that separate a designed smile from a straight one: the width and arc of the smile, how the teeth meet the lips, the proportion and color of each tooth, and how the gumline frames it. Straightening is step one. The VO Smile is the finished result.
How does DentalMonitoring actually cut down visits?
Your child scans their teeth from home each week with a phone, and Dr. Varble reviews every scan himself. If everything is progressing, there is no reason to come in just to confirm it. You save the in-office visits for the moments that genuinely need a chair, which for many families is about half of what a traditional schedule asks for.
